We have all heard the news stories coming out of Wisconsin and Indiana.
Both states are in a serious financial crisis. Both states have Republican Governors who are trying to rein in costs. Both states have seen Democratic legislators fleeing to neighboring states and shirking responsibilities rather than staying in the Statehouse and trying to work on the situation.
One of the biggest areas of contention is just how much will the Unions be willing to give in order to save a state from going bankrupt. So far, the Unions , especially the public sector Unions, have been unwilling to give even a little.
In light of the above, I found the following figures interesting:
- $125 Billion – Possible deficit total for all the states in the United States for the next fiscal year
- $200 Million – How much Unions spent last year to try to keep the Democrats in control of the U.S. Congress
